Our Lake Sessions - Verwall are a great way to be outside in stunning Alpine mountain surroundings having fun, being active and doing something different.
Surrounded by mountains, with distance views of the ski resort and a beautiful mountain stream entering, Lake Verwall is well worth spending time around. St.Anton has made the lake a very nice place to spend the day, with bbq areas, swings, benches and by spending time kayaking on the lake it gives you a very unique view of the amazing scenery.
Summer Lake Sessions
Once we have given you the kayaking apparel, we will adjust the kayaks to make sure they are the perfect fit with regards to length and width. If you have a good connection with your kayak, it will make controlling and stabilising the boat way easier thus giving you more confidence.
The Kayak School Instructor will give you a full safety briefing including demonstrations followed by a gentle warm up and a few dry land practices.
Now it is time to get onto the water!!
We spend time getting used to our kayaks, gaining confidence and balance. Learning to turn the kayak is first, followed by paddling forwards in a straight line. During the session we play various ball games such as kayak polo to gain more confidence and have fun.
Being on the lake can also be about having a mini adventure exploring places that can only be accessed by a kayak, heading up to the small river flowing in or just kayaking around enjoying time on the water!
Practicalities
Instructors
Here at Kayak School Arlberg we work with small group sizes so you will have plenty of instruction and feedback from our professional, fully qualified instructors and of course you will feel safe and gain confidence quickly within a small group.
Our equipment is modern, keeps you warm on a cool day and includes both kids and adult sizes. The instructor to group ratio is a maximum of 1:6 on Lake Verwall, if you are a big group of more than 6 persons then just get in touch and we will bring an extra instructor for the kayaking session.
Getting There
To get to the meeting point it is simply a matter of taking the number 6 bus to the lake. You can catch the bus at Terminal West in St.Anton or you can park your cat at the entrance of the valley and catch the bus from there. A 3 minute walk towards the Kraftwerk building along the road will bring you to our vehicle where our Instructor will be waiting for you.
Weather
You can kayak with us on Lake Verwall in pretty much any weather! Of course it is unbelievable to kayak with deep blue skies and sunshine. However, if the weather is not great we still go kayaking and you will be surprised the just how nice it can be doing an outdoor activity when it is raining and the different types of atmospheric moods that come and go.
If there are thunderstorms in the morning we will postpone the kayaking until these have passed!
